As tílias também se abatem?
Está a ser cometido um crime neste preciso momento em Leça. A monumental tília que se vê nas fotografias está a ser cortada. Porquê?
Confesso que estou em estado de choque. Não consegui ficar a ver. A sensação de impotência em face da catástrofe é angustiante. Ainda na sexta-feira passada explicava à minha filha as transformações do Outono perante esta mesma árvore, de copa e dimensão perfeitas. Quem responde por este crime?

... yes it is a crime cutting down such a magnificent tree. But from your pictures it looks as if the 'uphill' side of the tree is dead or diseased (there appears to be little foliage to the right of the second picture compared to the 'downhill' side). Nature would remedy this one way or another in due course, but this tree finds itself surrounded by a park where the unplanned remedy by nature could injure anyone passing nearby, even your daughter perhaps. Because of the 'claim culture' that seems to be a feature of life today, local authorities avoid the risk of compensation claims for personal injury.
In the UK a young tree of the same type is planted when a mature tree has to be felled. I hope that a new tree will be planted here, not on the hillside, but nearby.

Obrigada pela solidariedade. A questão é que as árvores deviam ser acompanhadas e tratadas em vez de abandonadas e abatidas... Tal como, estou certa, acontece em Inglaterra, onde, por diversas vezes, vi árvores velhíssimas nos parques escoradas até "morrerem de pé". Por outro lado, a diferença da folhagem que se nota na segunda fotografia deve-se já ao abate de hoje. Garanto-lhe que na semana passada a copa estava "cheia" por igual e verdejante!
Prometo acompanhar o caso e dar notícia sobre o que irá ser plantado no local, embora tenha já, infelizmente, algumas suspeitas sobre o assunto...

In the UK every tree in this position would be under the protection of a Tree Preservation Order making it illegal to fell it without consent. But enforcement takes longer than the time taken to cut a tree down.
